アメリカコロラド州のTagawa Greenhouse とTagawa Gardensを紹介します😊
こちらは1982年に始まった、アメリカで有名な苗生産者＆園芸店の会社です。
コロラド州以外のコストコや大手ガーデンデポに出荷しており、400名以上の従業員が働いています。 実はこちら、日本でお知り合いの花苗生産者さんが約40年前に栽培研修をされていたところ👀
会社の代表であるRandy Tagawaさんはこの業界では名の知れた方で、コロラド大学を出た後に家業を継いで苗の生産や生産効率化を図った機械を作ったりと活躍されています。Randyさんに生産現場の案内や会社についてご説明いただきました。
園芸店では自社で作る花苗に加えて野菜苗、種や園芸グッズも数多く取り揃えていました。
平日10:00にも関わらずとても混んでおり、アメリカのガーデニング需要を実感しました。
こちらの店長さんから伺った話によれば、これまでアメリカの庭には芝を植えていたけれど州から環境保護の観点から草花植栽をするよう促されているようで、なんと受け入れた方は税が軽減されるとのこと💡特にカリフォルニア州が進んでいるともお話しされていました。 日本も行政と連携してガーデニング事業を行えば、成熟したこの業界としても景観形成という面でも良いなと思いました。
I went to Tagawa Greenhouse and Tagawa Garden Center in Colorado. They are the historical company which has been produced flower nurseries since 1982. They ship flower pots not only Colorado but also another states to Costco and lots of the garden depo. And there, Mr. Sato who is the great pansy breeder in Japan had learned flower cultivation. Fortunately he connected me to visit and take picture of the field. Mr. Randy, the CEO of Tagawa Gardens is a well-known person as a gardener and an engineer of plant machine. This time he guided me through his huge field and the garden depo. Recently American people plant the annual flowers or perennial plants instead of grasses in their garden because of the environmental protection. One of the reasons why this garden center is popular that it can possibly cause that background. Currently in Japan horticultural industry is mature. So I hope it would be nice in the point of this industry and scenery, that Japanese government encourage the people to garden. Mr. Randy and the staffs are so gentle. I really appreciate for their kindness🙏
